Comprehensive Eye Exams
Examples of a few conditions and/or disease are cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments etc. All of these conditions and/or diseases can be detected during the course of your routine eye examination. The eyes are often seen as a window into your overall health. Through the eyes, we can detect systemic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, inflammatory conditions etc.
In Ontario, Comprehensive Eye Examinations are covered under OHIP for the following patients:
- Children ages 0 to 19 years old
- Seniors ages 65 years and older
Medical conditions such as Diabetes that is being treated, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and some types of infections/inflammations.
All of the above patients are eligible for a full and comprehensive eye exam ONCE a year.
